About the i.e.

In the year 2005, Anne Marie van Swinderen, a Dutch citizen, established I.E.

“Because of my work I have moved around the world quite a lot, obliging me to learn different languages (8 in total). Therefore I now have good insight on different methods for teaching second (or third) languages and on the most effective and practical way of learning. It is not easy to teach an adult a new language in a motivating and efficient way.

In the year 2005 I and my family moved to La Paz, Bolivia, and we found it hard to find a good Spanish language school. However we did find several good teachers. Shortly after that I decided to start a Spanish language school with good facilities and a professional curriculum. The i.e. instituto exclusivo was born in October 2005, initially focusing on Spanish lessons. However soon afterwards we extended our working field to both English and Dutch.

Being Dutch, and having lived in so many different countries, I especially like to help people from other places to learn Dutch. I sympathize with the sensation of commotion when moving to another country, the longing for typical things from home and also the difficulties people encounter when learning another language like Dutch, especially the pronunciation.

After having lived in Angola for a while, a country where access to internet is very limited, it was a bit different for me to live in a country where it was relatively easy to Skype with my friends and family in the Netherlands. The possibility of using the “telephone-by-internet” (for example making use of Skype) for language lessons seemed too good to be true, since the teachers could provide lessons to people all over the world. Therefore, from the very beginning, i.e. has focused mainly on providing online language classes.

Since its inception, our school has concentrated on the development of methods especially fitted for online teaching. We have created a system to be able to offer tailor-made courses to each and every student. The teachers have learned how to evaluate new students and to assess and analyze their needs. Based on this assessment, an individual program is established, offering the right teaching materials and subjects, to meet the interests and learning goals of each individual student.

To be able to pass the inburgeringcourse, the student also needs to have minor knowledge of Dutch culture. As our teachers are native speakers, this information is intertwined in an integral manner with the language lessons.”
